Holi 2024: While Holi was being celebrated with full enthusiasm in the country on Monday (March 25, 2024), 24 people lost their lives in different accidents in different parts of the country. When the family members of the deceased received the news of their death in the middle of the festival, the atmosphere of joy instantly turned into mourning. Motorcycles collide, three dead
Three people died, while a woman and a girl were injured in a head-on collision between two motorcycles in the Islamnagar police station area of Badaun, Uttar Pradesh (UP) in the evening. The police took the body into custody and sent it for post-mortem and admitted the injured to the district hospital. According to Superintendent of Police (Rural) Rammohan Singh, the accident took place on Bisauli Road at the turn of Chicheta village in Islamnagar police station area. Sanju (31), a resident of Bharatan village, was going somewhere on a bike with his friend Ajay (35) when he had a head-on collision with another motorcycle coming from the opposite direction. Apart from Sanju and Ajay, Pramod (44), who was riding on another motorcycle, his wife Geeta and his one and a half year old granddaughter Ashi were also seriously injured in the accident.
Collision between car and vehicle, three killed
Three people died, while four children were injured in a head-on collision between a car and another vehicle (Bolero) in Rajpura police station area of Sambhal, UP. Area Officer (Gunnaur) Alok Sidhu said that the deceased were identified as Sonu (35), Mukesh (30) and wife Sunita (28). Four children were also injured in the accident.
Five including a child died in two accidents
Five people, including a child, died in two separate road accidents in Ballia of the state. The first accident took place near Bramhain village in Sukhpura police station area in the afternoon, where a speeding motorcycle lost control and collided with a tree and Rahul (18) and Sushil Gupta (19) died on the spot. At the time of the incident, both the youths were going home on a motorcycle and were intoxicated. In another accident, six-year-old boy Agastya Kumar and two youths (Pradeep – 25 and Laxman Chaurasia – 22) died when two motorcycles collided head-on in the afternoon in Barhucha village of Sikandarpur police station area of the district.
Uncontrollable car crushes villagers, two dead
An uncontrolled car rammed into some people playing Holi in Mughalsarai area of Chandauli, UP. Two people died and two others were seriously injured in the incident. Efforts are being made to identify the deceased. Angered by the incident, local villagers had blocked the Padav-Ramnagar road demanding compensation for the victims’ families. The officials who reached the spot gave assurance after which the traffic jam was cleared.
PRD jawan dies in bike collision
Provincial Guard (PRD) jawan Kamla Prasad Yadav (55) died in a collision between two bikes in Munshiganj area of Amethi, UP. He was coming to Munshiganj from his house in Narsinghbhanpur and on the way, near HAL Gate, his motorcycle collided with another motorcycle coming from the front.
Roadways bus hits car, two killed
A roadways bus hit a car in Bhopa area of Muzaffarnagar, UP. In the accident, two youths traveling in the car died and three others were seriously injured. Ankur Tyagi (28) and Monty (25) and three others were returning from Haridwar to Ghaziabad late on Sunday night. On the way, a speeding roadways bus hit their car between Beldara and Nirgajani villages of Bhopa police station area, after which Ankur and Monty died.
Four died due to drowning in river after Holi celebration
Four youths, who had gone to the Wardha river to take a bath after celebrating Holi, died due to drowning in Kumuram Bheem Asifabad district of Telangana. According to the police, this accident took place in Tattipalli village when the youth had gone to take bath in the river after celebrating Holi. Kumuram Bheem Asifabad Superintendent of Police K. Suresh Kumar told PTI that none of them knew how to swim and they drowned one after the other. The age of the deceased was between 22 to 25 years. With the help of local fishermen and swimmers, the police recovered the bodies. Based on preliminary investigation, it has come to light that he was allegedly drunk.
Car overturns in pit, three including mother and daughter die
Three people, including a mother and daughter, died after their car went out of control and collided with an electric pole last night near Jhamtia Chowk in Bachhwara police station area of Begusarai district in Bihar, and overturned in a pit about 30 feet deep, while this woman. The husband, son and car driver were seriously injured. After the accident on National Highway 31, the bodies were taken for post-mortem and the injured were admitted to District Sadar Hospital.
